Nikalee Foster Home For Christmas is the culmination of GVT's After- school Drama Program at Greenbrier Valley Theatre. This heartwarming musical chroni- cling the plight of the homeless during the holidays is a one-act show with a cast of 40, yes 40, and they're all under the age of 17. Nikalee Foster, a senior at Seneca Trail Christian Acad- emy, takes on the leading role as Kate in Home For Christmas and the spot as oldest cast mem- ber in the show. Foster has been involved with the theatre since she was old enough to join. She recalls her role as Tiny Tim in A Chr/stmas Carol as a child comparing it to her lead role now, as a senior in high school, in this year's holi- day production. "It's kind of funny to look back then see that I've moved up to here" she says. When asked what it's like to put a production together with over 40 little ones, Nikalee says that more than anything, it's fun to work with the children. As for being the oldest, it's cool, "I remember when I was younger looking up to the older kids in theatre," she says and certainly Foster is a great role model for the aspiring young actors. Although Nikalee's extensive involvement in theatre would indicate further interest, she says {hat her career plans are rather "broad" at the moment. She mentions pre-med as a pos- sible pursuance at one of the many Christian Colleges she's applied to and stresses her de- sire to do missionary work. "I plan to do theatre on the side, become involved with it wher- ever I can," says Foster, but it doesn't look like a huge career prospect right now. Foster recently auditioned for this spring's musical produc- tion of Guys and Dolls and. along with her peers, is eagerly awaiting the cast list. From her past involvement in the high school's spring musical produc- tion she says that her favorite show would have to be 2007's production of 42nd Street, with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying coming in a close second. As opposed to A Broadway Christmas Carol. which has more of a professional quality, Home For Christmas is more of a community effort says Foster. it focuses on the tots and tweens and "gives the kids a chance to show off their hard work." The large cast performs 13 musical numbers in one act and is sure to be hit throughout the com- munity, like every holiday per- formance it's sure to draw that same familiar crowds coming to see their daughter or son. grandson or niece on stage along with those who cherish this traditional children's pro- duction at Christmas. Also. the storyline is perfect for holiday theatre and for the little ones RECEIVE A 20% DISCOUNT WHEN YOU BUY TICKETS FOR BOTH HOLIDAY SHOWS!!
