Services were at VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton, with Reverend John Sullivan officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. Visitation was at the funeral home. Willard C, Hanson Lewlsburg -- Willard Clifton Hanson, 80, died December 17, 1990, at his home, following a short illness. Born August 7, 1910, at Lewisburg, he was the son of the late William Henry and Linnie Pearl Black Hansom Mr Hanson was a World War II veteran and was a storekeeper. Survivors include his wife, Hiawatha Hanson; a sister, Mary Davis of Lewis- burg and Virginia Ridgeway and Thelma Sampson, both of Lewisburg. Services were at Jack K. Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Rever- end Jack K. Wallace officiating, burial was in Roach Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home. Mary Ellen Harrah Gloucester, Virginia--- Mrs Mary Ellen Harrah, 99, formerly of Beckiey, died De- cember 11, 1990 in a Gloucester Point, Virginia hospital, following a long illness. Born April 10, 1891, at Jumping Branch, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Olive Williams Massie. Mrs Harrah was a retired private duty nurse and homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She had lived most of her life on Larew Avenue in Beckley and had resided in Gloucester for the past two years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Estel Basham; second hus- band, Alfie Harrah; a daughter, EIva Hutchinson in 1968 and 16 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her caring daughter, was the daughter of the late William F. and Minnie Coffman Fry. Mrs Judy was the oldest member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No 69. Survivors include several cousins. Services were at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Rever- end Ross Evans officiating. Burial was in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg. William C. Mitchell Alderson -- William C;. Mitchell, 79, for- merly of Beckley, died December 11, 1990, in Humana Hospital Greenbrier Valley, Fairies He was born in Roanoke, Virginia and was a former co-owner of Pete and Bob's Drive-In, Beckley. He was a former pilot for Sesler Flight Service, and a for- mer instructor for Navy flight students, Jacksons Mill. He was a member of Beckley Moose, Elks and Masonic lodges, and Beni Kedem Shrine Temple of Charleston. He was a member of AOPA, and Beckley Presbyterian Church. Surviving: wife, Doris; sons, General Lawrence Mitchell of Beale Air Force Base, California, William Harden of Orlando, Florida; daughters, Pamela Coffman of Beckley, Mary House of Sparkman, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren. Born February 5, 1917, at Greenwood, he was the son of the late John Weaver and Goldie Faye Boone Pomeroy. Mr Pomeroy was a member of the First Baptist Church at Quinwood, a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Ralph Nader Group, a member of the Petersburg His- torical Society, a retired electrician and EMT from Allied Chemicals in Hopewell, Virginia, and a former coal miner for 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Sue Smith Pomeroy; three daughters, Carrie Gail Wa!ker of Fort Washington, Maryland, Brenda Nunley of Lewisburg, and Vir- gima Lee Robinson of Lincoln Park, Michigan; two sons, John Edward Pom- eroy, Jr of Petersburg, Virginia and Sammy Jack Pomeroy of Freder- icksburg, Virginia; two sisters, Hallie McMillion of Euclid, Ohio, and Brenda Lucille Fox of Quinwood and nine grand- children. Born January 8, 1913, at Glace, she was the daughter of the late John David and Maxine Reed Feury. Mrs Spence was a member of the Glace Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her hus- band, Willie C.
