He was a re tired farmer and a member of Greenbner County Farm Bureau Surviving: sons, T Alex and Lockard F, both of Lewisburg; live grandchildren Service was at Clifton Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gent Miller offici ating Arrangements were made by McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg Stella Scott Biankenship Rupert .-- Mrs Stella Scott Blankenship, 84, died June 9, 1990 at a Fairlea hospF tal following a long illness Born September 8, 1904 in Berea, Ken- tucky, she was the daughter of the late William T and Oltie Calloway Scott Mrs Blankenship was a 50-year resident of Rupert, a member ot Rupert Mission- ary Baptist Church and was a home- maker, She was preceded in death by her hus- band, Harry Clifton Blankenship in 1979 and a son, Charles C Blankenship in 195t, Survivors include two daughters, Ollie Palmer of Rupert and Thelma Forren of Kessler; a son, Paul Blankenship of Hyattsvilte, Maryland; a brother, Parky Scott Of Louisville, Kentucky, eight grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchil- dren. He tived most of his life in West Virginia although he has spent the last 17 years residing in Fto~ence He Js a member of New Hope Church of Christ, the International Typographical Union, the Masonic Lodge No 14 in Florence He is a retired farmer and former corn posing room foreman for Florence Times Mr Brown was the widower of Mrs Jennie Cruikshanks Brown of White Sulphur Springs. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Lee Brown of Florence, Alabama and Char los Robert Brown of Montgomery, Ala bama; 6 grandchildren; 1 step-grand child; and 4 great-grandchildren Services were May 6, 1990 at New Hope Church of Christ with Reverends Ronatd Kendnck and Carl Seigenthaler otticiat mg Burial was in New Hop(; Cemetery Sonny Averell Byer Pompano Beach, Florida .... Sonny Averell Byer, 42, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, died June 5. 1990 at a Pompano Beach hospital, following a short illness Born October 7, 1948, at White Sulphur Springs, he was the son of Myrtle P Byer of White Sulphur Springs and the late Julian (Pete) Byer Mr Byer was employed at the Boca Roe Golf Club at Boca Raton, Florida Other survivors include a son, Sonny A Byer Jr of Lewisburg; two brothers, Ha reid Byer of Huntington, Virginia and Guy Byer of Pompano Beach, and five sis- ters, Hitda Bates and Karen Clinebell, both of Covington, Virginia, Dons Gibson and Sarah Loveing, both of Hopewell Virginia and Judy Brant of Lewisburg Graveside services were at Hillcrest Cernetery at White Sulphur Springs with Reverend James Black officLating Arrangements were made by Shankhn Funeral Home m White Sulphur Springs Maude B. Gwinn Alderson -- Miss Maude Burgess Gwinn, 93, died June 9, 1990 in a Fairlea hospital following a short illness Born April 28, 1897 at Wotfcreek, she was the daughter of the late S Fletcher Gwinn and Ola Hill Gwinn Mrs Gwinn was a homemaker, a mere bet of the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church at Alderson, a charter member el the Alderson Chapter Num bet 119 Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark H Gwinn in 1979 Survivors include a sister, Nova Davidson of Alderson; a niece, Mrs Car- roll (Gent) Willis of Alderson; a nephew, Donald Gwinn of Gaithersburg. Mary- land; two great-nephews, Jeff Willis of Aiderson and Don Gwinn of Ronceverte and one great-great nephew, Eric Gwmn of Williamsburg. Mr Hayes was preceded in death by his wile, Audrey W Hayes in 1987 Survivors include: three sons, James R. Hayes of Fairlea, Joe Hayes of Logan, Ohio and Eddie Hayes of Christiansburg Virginia; 1 sister, Mrs Brownie Dotson of Lewisburg; 5 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren• Arrangements were made by Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewis burg.
