Homemakers will welcome Andreza
de Carvalho Martins (a citizen of
Brazil who is studying at West Vir-
ginia University), June 26, when Ms
Martins will be the houseguest of
Beaulah Arthur of Clintonville.
During her visit in the Greenbrier
Valley, Ms Martins will discuss her
country's customs and lifestyles at a
special covered dish luncheon at the
Clintonville Community Building
June 27, which is open to the pub!it
Registration is at 10:30 a.m. with
lunch at noon.
Ms Martins' p!esentation "Brazil:
A Land of contrasts" is sponsored
by West Virginia University Exten-
sion Service and supported by the
+ Greenbrier County Extension Home-
makers Council.
A 22-year-old native of Rio de
Janeiro, Ms Martins is majoring in
child development and international
studies.

Alderson Brownie Girl Scout Troop is in the process of being organ-
Ized. Their first meeting was held May 8. Participating in the day's
activities were Allison McMillion, Beth Holcomb, Pamela Freeman, AI-
Isha McClung, Ashley McMillion, Jerri Holcomb, Lindsay McMillion,
Stephanle Smith, Ashley Vallandingham, and Renee Freeman. The pro-
gram of the first meeting was planned by Shirley Perrine who was
aided y Belinda McMIIlion.
The leader of this troop will be Belinda McMillion. Any family wishing
their daughters to participate should call Belinda at 445-2936. Addi-
tional adult help is needed to make the program a success, and to
provide the Girl Scout Program to all girls who wish to be a part of the
program.
McCtear (Monroe County Citi-
zens on Litter Education and Recy-
cling) is looking for a few good vol-
unteers.
In conjunction with the Division of
Natural Resources, the group's ob-
jectives are to coodinate a continu-
ous plan of education, control, pre-
vention and the elimination of litter
in Monroe County. "McClear plans
to educate the community oN the ef-
fects of litter, put an end to illegal
dumping, promote recycling pro-
gram, involve county organizations
in the Adopt-A-Highway program
and start environmental programs
within the schools," according to
chairperson Julia Mustain.
McClear meets every third Thurs-
day at 7:30 p.m. alternating between
Peterstown Library and Monroe
County Library in Union. The next
scheduled meeting is Thursday,
June 21, at the Peterstown Library.
