The loyalty and fan base from this community is second to none. WE HAVE THE BEST FANS IN '2 THE STATE! I personally ap- ,: preciate your support and I know for a fact that the coach- es and players were touched : by the emotions that you ex- i: pressed. The standing ovation ', as the game ended and the ? even louder cheer during the recognition of the teams after : the final whistle was TOTAL ', CLASS. Our coaches and stu- '.: dent-athletes recognized your ' kindriess and will remember that forever. What a great memory for our seniors. Wow! Also, this tremendous event " could not have been possible without the effort of everyone behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone from maintenance, security, media relations, tick- et takers, concessions, etc. From Aide to Zopp, hundreds of people gave their time and effort to showcase the pride and support that we have for our Greenbrier East student . athletes. "One can pay back , the loan of gold, but one dies forever in debt to those who : are kind." I am forever in debt , to the people of Greenbrier County. THANK YOU! TRIVIA: Name all the Boys Basketball Head Coaches in the history of Greenbrier East High School. Now for the hodgepodge of information and facts in no particular order: ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Madeline Vandevander (St} - Track - The season has just begun and Madeline is already getting accolades for her efforts and bringing performance to the track program. Madeline is currently the WVVA-TV Chan- nel 6 Student of the Month. Look for her on television. Madeline was also announced as the Mountain State Athletic Conference Student Athlete Scholar of the year for Green- brier East High School. She was named 1st Team All-Aca- demic for the M.S.A.C. We are very proud of her. Good things happen to good people. Expect greatness for Madeline. '* Max Nogay from Madonna High School recently won his second state wrestling cham- pionship. He was also the starting quarterback for the State Championship football team. To top it off, he is an All- State baseball player that ac- cepted a scholarship to play at WVU. He plans to go to medical school. My point is (As always) that the top student-athletes compete in different sports. If I can quote a famous Super Bowl championship coach, "I want athletes who enjoy com- petition." Congratulations to the Boys Basketball Team on their convincing victory over Beck- ley for the Sectional Champi- onship. One final note of thought, word of wisdom or quotable quote: "Don't be bothered by the critics. I swear that ff I could walk on water, my critic would say it's because I can't swim."
