Keesee Oakmont Farms Smoot Dear Editor: Our fight to inform West Virgini- ans as to how to end the legislative dictatorship by giving the people a voice in government through Initia- tive, Referendum and Recall has been in operation since April (ten months). The legislators mistakenly as- sumed that because our Rally turn- out was small, that we are an insig- nificant number. That was a serious miscalculation and the movement is growing daily, becoming massive in number. As each 'new' person dis- covers hope, to combat the arro- gance of the majority of the state legislators, .he in turn passes the elation of that hope to another voter, who does the same ad infinitum. The Constitutional Revision Com- mittee (in the House of Delegates voted against the people 14 to 10. The Government Organization Com- mittee in the Senate voted against the people 6 to 4. The names of the Legislators who voted against the people will be sent to each county to be used before the May 8 Primary Election. We have laurels to hand out to those honest, sincere legislators who are working hard for the voters who elected them. These persons will be given the praise they de- serve, in their counties. For information on how you can help, call 757-7224. Lou Allen Viloris Allen Scott Depot Dear Editor: We, the Residents and Staff at Denmar Hospital would like to ex- tend a big '1hank you" to all who have supported us in our fight to keep Denmar open. Denmar is home not only to the residents but home to the staff too. It will be a very sad closing for us. We can only hope and pray suitable placement with easy adjustment will be made for our residents and hope- fully a majority of our staff will be able to find jobs and remain in beau- tiful Pocahontas County. IIAM to 4 PM 962-7853 Dear Editor and Citizens of Greenbrier County: The Greenbrier East Spartan Marching Band, the Greenbrier East Music Booster Organization, Green- brier East High School, school ad- ministration, and the Director's of the Band wish to express our sin- cere and heart-felt thanks to the citi- zens of Greenbrier County for send- ing the Spartan Band to the Orange Bowl. What a truly outstanding ex- perience for approximately 134 young people to represent Green- brier County and the State of West Virginia in the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami, Florida, and at a perform- ance at Epcot Center, Orlando, Flor- ida. It was an experience none of the young people will ever forget. The comment was made soon af- ter our arrival home, "Greenbrier County doesn't realize what a spe- cial organization they have , one that has the ability to be invited to such a prestigious event." This ob- servation was made by an individual from another locality. The Spartan Band's response to that is what they don't realize is how fortunate the young people of Greenbrier County are to have a community that deems it necessary and important to sup- port, not only to send the band to the Orange Bowl, but to support all young people in so many capacities, too numerous to mention. Every single member of the Spar- tan Band was proud to perform "Country Roads -- West Virginia" in front of a national television audi- ence, and to represent the banner which read "THE PRIDE AND SPIRIT OF EASTERN GREEN- BRIER COUNTY." Without a doubt, the performance in the Orange Bowl Parade repre- sents the hard work of the members of the band and community, but more importantly is indicative of the spirit of all the young people of Greenbrier East High School. We pledge the Greenbrier East Spartan Band will make every at- tempt to offer excellent and enjoy- able performances in the future, and will provide the best quality musical and life experience possible for the young people who choose to do so. The Spartan Band values the support they receive from the busi- ness and professional community as well as the Greenbrier County com- munity. Without your support and investment in the education of the young people in Greenbrier County none of the successes the young people have enjoyed would be pos- sible. In addition to the Orange Bowl "the Spartan Band received three Grand Championship Awards this • past fall for best overall band. Final- ist at the Bands of America Eastern Regional (only West Virginia band to qualify), and a drum line, guard, and horn line that was undefeated ex- cept for the regional. An appearance The Mountain Messenger, Tuesday, March 6, 1990 5A at the Pittsburgh Steelers --- Chi- cago Bears Professional football game at Three Rivers Stadium. The Spartan Band, as well as all the organizations at Greenbrier East High School, value the concern, interest, and support the citizens provide. Our hope is that you are proud to support THE PRIDE AND SPIRIT OF EASTERN HGREEN- BRIER COUNTY! Sincerely, The Greenbrier East Spartan Band FOLKS WHO NEVER DO ANY MORE THAN THEY GET PAID FOR,NEVERGET PAID FOR ANY MORE THAN THEY DO ELBER T HUBBA R D Rupert Schools Sign Partner Pact With Bank The signing of the Partnership In Education between Rupert Junior high and Elementary School and Greenbrier Valley National Banki: Rupert Branch was held at the: Bank.
