Bill Turner presented a check to Megan Crocker of the Family
Refuge Center. The Family Refuge Center thanks the Pyles,
Haviland, Turner. & Mick Foundation for its recent grant award.
The grant provides funds to facilitate a service club at Green-
brier East High School called R.A.P.P.E.R.S, (Raising Aware-
ness, Promoting Peace and Equality, and Resolving Strife), One
project that the club comPleted last semester was assembling
and then donating stuffed animals to the children in the pediat-
ric care unit at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. R.A.P.P.E.R.S
also has plans to get involved with a refugee letter exchange
program.

The Greenbrier Valley Board
of Realtors (GVBOR) met for
their regular monthly meeting
on Jan. 17 at the Greenbrier
County Elk's Country Club.
The Greenbrier Valley Board
will co-host the 2009 State
Realtor's Convention with the
Raleigh County Board. Linda
Brant was nominated as a can-
didate for State Director. An
election was set for the next
meeting on Feb. 21. Nancy
Sartor, Broker with Active Re-
alty has agreed to chair the by-
laws committee.
The Board office will be mov-
ing from its present location on
Courtney Drive to a new loca-
tion at 120 West Washington
Street, Lewisburg, above High
Country Gallery.
Discussion was held on the
upcoming continuing educa-
tion planned for the Greenbrier
Valley Board. All Realtors are
encouraged to take advantage
of this event to meet their con-
tinuing education require-
ments set out by the state.
More information will be avail-
able at the next meeting.
The program for the lun-
cheon was "Stress Less for
Success," developed and pre-
sented by Sandy Fenster-
reacher. CPCE. She is the
founder of Celebrate Life Lec-
tures, LLC and is a motiva-
tional speaker who assists cli-
ents to cope with every day
stress and live life to the full-
est potential. The program was
sponsored by First National
Bank of Ronceverte.
The 2008 Marketing Confer-
ence presented by the Women's
Business & Training Center
will be held on Wednesday,
Mar. 12, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
at the State Fairgrounds in
Fairlea.
Every business needs a
marketing plan in order to grow
their business. During the
morning session from 9 a.m. to
noon, Kara Gray will lead par-
ticipants through the steps nec-
essary to write a marketing plan
for your business. After lunch,
participants will learn about e-
mail and internet marketing,
how to market on a budget and
have an opportunity to ques-
tion a panel of newspaper, ra-
dio and TV representatives
about what their company has
to offer as a small business
advertiser. And finally, Melissa
Loder from the US Small Busi-
ness Administration will give
you insight on how to market
to the federal government.
It will be a day packed with
information to help partici-
pants grow their business. The
